The northern section of Lake Como has plenty of space for windsurfing and kitesurfing as well as other watersports such as wakeboarding, sailing and catamaran. Two of the main places that run courses as well as equipment hire (for both windsurfing and kite-surfing) are Domaso on the west side of the lake and Dervio on the east. However there are other areas of the Lake that are good for watersports; Colico, Sorico, Rezzonico, Gera Lario and Pare (at Lecco).
If you feel like trying out some watersports, why not sign up for a course; wake-boarding, kayaking and acqua tube are all available at the Jolly Racing Club, Lezzeno near Bellagio (Lezzeno). They also hire out equipment. Son of a Beach, in Colico run childrens courses as well as beginner and advanced courses and organized mountain bike and canoe trips
With a combination of a good teacher and ideal weather conditions, anyone can learn the basic skills for these sports. Please note that many of the watersports schools and clubs have English speaking instructors and often German and French too.
Some of the watersports clubs can be found on or near camping grounds and may provide a combined package of accommodation plus a course. For further information please contact the sports club direct via their websites.
