This villa is situated in Tremezzo on the western branch of Lake Como and dates back to the 16th century and was built for the Duke of Carretto. By the mid to late 18th century, the villa was restored in baroque style. The villa passed hands to the Brentano family and thereafter to the Serbelloni family. The villa has magnificent gardens with a beautifully crafted wrought iron gate at the entrance. Many valuable antiques furnish the inside of this villa.
The Serbelloni family had this villa for approximately nine years, during which time it was host to l’ abate Giuseppe Parini (famous poet), private tutor for the young Gian Galeazzo. The villa was eventually passed to the council (Busca) which in effect made them the owners.
Presently, Villa La Quiete is available for special occasions and exclusive residential stay otherwise you cannot enter the villa but it is still worthwhile going to see and taking a few photographs.
